Our compost worms Eisenia are sorted and weighed (without substrate) individually to ensure you get exactly the quantity ordered every time. They’re sent in a custom-made bedding designed by the Moutta Farm, weighing double that of the worms for maximum comfort, vitality, and smooth adaptation to their new home.
We use exclusively worms from the Eisenia family, acknowledged as the best worms for vermicomposting. Very active, tough, and hungry, they rapidly turn organic waste into high-quality vermicompost and worm tea.
For a wormery:
Our compost worms are perfect for indoor worm bins. They suit tray systems, continuous flow systems, and wormeries with a planter. Active and voracious, our worms quickly process your organic scraps while staying near the surface where it’s richest.
We recommend 250g for 1-2 people, 500g for 3-4, and 1kg or more for households of more than 4. The more worms you start with, the quicker and more efficient your wormery gets going.
For a compost bin:
Boost your compost bin naturally by adding compost worms. Their presence dramatically speeds up waste breakdown and creates a richer, livelier soil amendment. If your compost bin sits on open ground, the worms will spread up to 15 meters around, sustainably improving your soil’s quality.
For the garden or vegetable patch:
100% suited to natural environments, our worms thrive easily in any garden or veggie patch. True workers underground, they make earth more fertile, airier, and better draining—encouraging a thriving soil ecosystem. An essential partner for a productive, healthy garden.

Which worm species for your wormery or garden compost bin?
Every batch contains a balanced mix of three Eisenia species, guaranteeing great adaptability both indoors and out, in any compost bin or with any feedstock.
Each species plays its part: ensuring effective waste breakdown, optimal reproduction, and a stable population for the long haul.
Eisenia Andreï: This is the "Californian worm"—it’s not actually American but is a bright red (hence the name), and prefers fresh materials. Slightly less resistant to temperature extremes (5°–30°).
Eisenia Hortensis: (Dandrobaena venata) Larger and well known to anglers, it tackles tougher material and handles both winter and summer heat better. Slightly exploratory, so 1 or 2 may wander in the first few days (no cause for worry!).
Eisenia Foetida: The “manure worm”, red-banded in grey or yellow, it prefers decomposed matter.
Strength in diversity:
These three Eisenia species live together perfectly in your wormery or compost bin. Over time, one or two may dominate—these are just the species best suited to your home, climate, and what you feed them.
