EM-Silage® is an innovative microbiological additive designed to optimise the fermentation of grass, maize, wholecrop, immature cereals or moist grains (crimped) silages.
It contains a specific blend of Effective Microorganisms (EM®), including both homo- and hetero-fermentative lactic acid bacteria as well as live yeast.
This unique combination enables rapid acidification, greater clamp stability and higher energy value from the forage.
Ready-to-use liquid product (dilute in water before application).
Benefits
- Rapid pH drop (stabilising between 3.8 and 4.2);
- Improved aerobic stability;
- Prevents heating on the silage face;
- Reduced dry matter losses;
- Inhibits undesirable yeasts and moulds;
- Increased energy value;
- Improved palatability and intake;
- Direct support for animal performance.
Mode of Action
✔ Rapid acidification
Lactic acid bacteria rapidly convert soluble sugars into lactic acid, causing a rapid drop in pH.
This early acidification limits undesirable fermentations and stabilises the silage.
✔ Improved aerobic stability
Heterofermentative bacteria also produce acetic acid, which inhibits the growth of wild yeasts responsible for heating and spoilage.
✔ Cultured yeast action
The live yeast present in EM-Silage® produces bioactive metabolites (enzymes, vitamins, antioxidants) that:
- improve digestibility;
- enhance nutrient value;
- limit mould development;
- contribute to greater palatability.
Why choose EM-Silage®?
EM-Silage® is the only inoculant combining selected lactic acid bacteria and live active yeast, offering a comprehensive approach:
✔ Fast, controlled fermentation
✔ Long-lasting clamp stability
✔ Tastier, higher energy forage
✔ Improved animal performance
✔ Greater profitability
An effective microbiological solution to turn your silage into high-quality feed.
Directions for use
- Mix EM-Silage® in water according to technical recommendations.
- Standard dose: 1–2 litres of EM-Silage® per tonne of green matter.
- Apply evenly during silage making (spray onto incoming forage).
- Ensure thorough compaction and swift clamp sealing to maximise microbiological effect.
