The Lombricus Terrestrus is the largest worm we sell (4 g). As its name suggests, it originates from Canada, and measures between 15 and 20 cm. It has a dark red appearance and a flattened posterior end.
Every order is carefully prepared: the worms are sorted and packed on the day of shipping to guarantee freshness, vitality and excellent health upon arrival. The worms are weighed, not counted.
Moutta Farm has chosen generous and high-quality packaging. Each box contains sorted and weighed worms, to which we add an amount of substrate that is twice the weight of the worms.
This bedding, developed on our farm, recreates an ideal biotope to ensure their well-being and longevity.
This care in preparation and packaging ensures you receive robust, active worms that are ready to use, whether for fishing or feeding your animals.
Bait for fishing:
The Canadian worm is an ideal fishing bait. Its large size and robustness attract many fish, such as barbel, bream, carp, chub, roach, perch, rudd, tench, and trout.
It can be used whole or cut into pieces, making it even more attractive. It is especially effective for eel and catfish fishing, but remains versatile for most types of freshwater fishing.
Your worms are packed in a box or micro-perforated bag that allows good aeration while maintaining proper humidity.
Please note: For logistical reasons, all Canadian worm orders are shipped every Tuesday and delivered to you on Thursday or Friday.
Animal feed:
The Canadian worm can also be used as food for certain reptiles and amphibians. It is suitable for frogs such as Litoria, lizards like Tiliqua, as well as snakes of the Thamnophis type.
Certain insectivorous or omnivorous birds, such as chickens, ducks or pigeons, can benefit from worms as a supplementary food.
Its size and nutritional value make it a suitable food source for various insectivorous or omnivorous species.
Worm storage:
To keep them for several weeks, we recommend placing them at the bottom of the fridge, at a temperature between 3 and 7 °C, check humidity regularly.
These worms are not suitable for worm composters, as they require a heavy, earth-based substrate in large quantities to remain healthy. To create the optimal environment, add cardboard or paper cut into small pieces to their bedding. This setup keeps them active, lively and ready for fishing.
