The Lumbricus Terrestrus is the largest worm we sell (4g). As its name suggests, it originates from Canada, measuring 15 to 20 cm. It features a dark red body and a flattened posterior end.
Each order is prepared with care: the worms are sorted and packaged the very day of shipping to ensure their freshness, vitality, and excellent condition upon arrival. The worms are weighed, not counted.
Moutta Farm has chosen a generous and high-quality packaging. Each box contains selected and weighed worms, and we add a quantity of substrate that is double the weight of the worms.
This bedding, developed by our farm, recreates an ideal biotope, encouraging their well-being and longevity.
This attention to preparation and packaging brings you robust, active worms ready to use, for either fishing or feeding your animals.
Baits for fishing:
The Canadian worm is an ideal bait for fishing. Its large size and robustness attract many fish, such as barbel, bream, carp, chub, roach, perch, rudd, tench, and trout.
It can be used whole or cut into pieces, increasing its appeal. It is particularly effective when fishing for eel and catfish, but remains versatile for most types of freshwater fishing.
Your worms are packaged in a box or micro-perforated bag, allowing for sufficient aeration while keeping the humidity at the right level.
Attention: For logistical reasons, all Canadian worm orders are shipped every Tuesday with home delivery on Thursday or Friday.
Animal feed:
The Canadian worm may also be used as food for certain reptiles and amphibians. It is especially suited for frogs such as Litoria, lizards like Tiliqua, and snakes of the Thamnophis genus.
Certain insectivorous or omnivorous birds such as chickens, ducks, or pigeons can benefit from worms as a dietary supplement.
Its size and nutritional value make it a suitable food source for many insectivorous or omnivorous species.
Keeping your worms:
To keep them for several weeks, it is recommended to store them at the bottom of your fridge, at a temperature between 3 and 7 °C.
These worms are not suitable for worm composters, as they require a heavy earth substrate in large amounts to thrive. To recreate an optimal environment, add cardboard or paper shredded into small pieces to their bedding. This will keep them active, lively, and ready for fishing use.
