EM® Bokashi Balls are clay balls enriched with effective microorganisms (EM®), designed to restore the biological balance in ponds and reduce sludge. Thanks to progressive microbial action, these balls help clean ponds, water features, and small lakes while improving water quality and limiting the growth of algae and unwanted aquatic plants.
Each ball is made from a blend of fermented clay, EM® Bokashi, molasses, and EM® ceramic powder.
This natural combination promotes a healthy and sustainable aquatic environment, with no risk to wildlife, plants, or pets. You can continue to water your vegetable gardens or let your animals drink the treated water without any risk.
We do not recommend using pond balls in clean water such as rainwater tanks, as the ball will disintegrate to take effect. In this case, it is preferable to use Maxi Tubes or Ceramic Rings.

Uses and Dosage
For a pond or water feature, it is recommended to apply:
- 1 ball for every 1 to 2 m² of bottom surface per year;
- Depending on the amount of existing sludge, you can apply 1 to 2 balls per m²;
- The treatment is ideally carried out in winter;
- Can be combined with Microferm and EM® Photo+ for complete green water treatment.
These balls require only one annual application to achieve visible, long-lasting results while maintaining optimal biological balance in your pond.
The action of EM® Bokashi Balls is progressive: the effective microorganisms ferment and break down accumulated organic matter, neutralise nitrate and ammonia residues, and restore the oxygenation level necessary for stable water balance.
You may notice some degassing in the weeks following application: the algae and organic matter that rise to the surface can be removed and used as fertiliser or compost.
