This kit contains all the essential elements you need to get started with your Bokashi Comfort 14-litre composter.

Unlike traditional composting, Bokashi relies on a fermentation process (not decomposition). By adding a Bokashi activator based on effective micro-organisms (EM), food waste is quickly fermented, odour-free and pest-free.

Bokashi Comfort in the kitchen

The word “bokashi” is a Japanese term meaning “fermented organic matter”. In fact, it is fermented by EM (friendly bacteria). These bacteria speed up the fermentation process of organic matter in the composter.

Bokashi has positive effects on soil, enriches the earth, feeds the garden and is good for the planet by reducing everyday waste. Composting with Bokashi is very simple. Thanks to its design, its discreet presence and compact format, it is ideal as a kitchen composter.

The Bokashi EM-1 activator with high fermentation is made by Moutta Farm!
Our ingredients are carefully selected and we use the official EM-1 from Professor Teruo Higa, the renowned inventor of bokashi, to ensure premium quality.
We use raw materials from our region. Wheat bran from Gers (32) and molasses from Béarn (64).

WHY TWO BOKASHI?
The advantage of the 2-buckets kit:

While the fermentation process is taking place in the first composter (for 15 days), the second is available to continue getting rid of new waste (next 15 days).

We recommend using two Bokashi buckets. Once the first is full, it must remain closed and at rest for 2 weeks, allowing the food waste to ferment. During this time, you can start filling the second bucket!

Bokashi with airtight closure
Bokashi Comfort to transform your kitchen waste

Advantages

This indoor composter has several benefits:

  • It has a tap so you can enjoy the advantages of compost without having to handle the waste.
  • The lid features a seal and three locks, making it completely airtight.
  • Opening and closing is very simple.
  • A holder at the back of the Bokashi is provided to hang the compactor.
  • Compact, stylish and above all odourless, everything is provided so this composter blends perfectly with your interior.

Principle and usage:

  1. Place your cooked and uncooked food leftovers into the composter.
  2. Sprinkle with two tablespoons of Bokashi activator.
  3. Compact your waste using the provided compactor to remove air from the organic matter.
  4. Always keep the lid closed; the less air, the better.
  5. Drain off excess liquid produced by using the tap at the base of the composter.

When the bucket is full, empty the contents into a small hole or trench in your garden (in the green waste bin, in a worm composter or even at a recycling center).

The waste will be fermented but not yet decomposed at this stage. It must be placed in soil to physically break down to humus (soil). Alternatively, the organic matter from the bucket can be added to your garden composter. For best results, keep this organic matter covered with soil and other compostable material.
