Who is Urbalive?
Did you know? The Wormery Urbalive was originally conceived as a stool for storing small garden tools. It eventually became a wormery, and won a Red Dot Award in 2017.
Urbalive is a brand of Plastia, a family-run Czech company founded in 1993 by the Novotný couple. Plastia develops, manufactures, stores and ships its products from a single site in Nové Veselí, in the Vysočina region. Production is 100% Czech.
The Wormery Urbalive was designed by Czech designers Jiří Pelcl and David Crla. The aim: a worm composter attractive enough to stay in your living space. Plastia uses recycled plastic for internal parts wherever possible and reuses its production offcuts.
Moutta Farm, which has been breeding compost worms since 2007, chose Urbalive for its design and build quality. We also offer all the Urbalive spare parts to make your Wormery Urbalive last.
Questions about Urbalive products
Wormery Urbalive with 2 or 3 trays: which should I choose?
The 2-tray Wormery Urbalive is ideal for getting started or for a small household. The 3-tray version offers more capacity for a family that produces lots of peelings. You can also start with 2 trays and add a Tray for Urbalive later.
What else do I need besides the Wormery Urbalive to get started?
You will need compost worms, sold by weight. A bio bucket in the kitchen is very handy for collecting peelings before taking them to the Wormery Urbalive. To find out more, visit our vermicomposting section.
Wormery Urbalive or Urbalive Bokashi: what is the difference?
The Wormery Urbalive uses compost worms that turn waste into compost. The Urbalive Bokashi works without worms: the waste ferments with micro-organisms in an airtight bucket holding 10,6 usable litres. The two solutions complement each other very well.
Are Urbalive spare parts available?
Yes. Moutta Farm offers the Lid for Urbalive, the Juice tray for Urbalive, the Tap for Urbalive, the Wooden legs for Urbalive and other parts. You will find them all in the Urbalive spare parts section.
